Letters from Strategic Partners

International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank)

International Bank for Reconstruction and Development had a chance to collaborate with Ukrainian Distance Learning System within the framework of the project “Social Partnership – A Paradigm for Success” in which 45 participants from NGOs of Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine took part. In the course of the learning process new learning technologies have been implemented: a videoconference, distance learning on the web-platform and case study method.

UDL System specialists were coordinating the program; they have developed the educational web-portal and administrated the learning process. Besides, training in methodology of distance teaching and learning for trainers and trainees of the program has been conducted. High professionalism of the employees of the organization, viz. Ihor Katernyak, Viktoriya Loboda, Yevhen Pyatak, became the guarantee for the successful conduction of the learning program, creation of the distance course and opening the dialogue between NGOs, governments and business structures.

International Bank for Reconstruction and Development pays much attention to electronic development in the world, which includes the development of the national components of the Internet and introduction of distance learning. We would like to express our support to the Ukrainian Distance Learning System as far as we consider that this organization has practical experience of work at creation of distance learning courses as well as possesses substantial creative and organizational potential.

International Scientific Research and Exchange Council (IREX)

Non-governmental organization Ukrainian Distance Learning System (UDL System) has been collaborating with the International Scientific Research and Exchange Council (IREX) for several years within the projects connected with improvement of methods and ways of teaching in high school as well as with the development of Internet technologies for applying them in the system of continuous education.

During 2001 Ukrainian Distance Learning System worked in the Creation of Electronic Information Listservs Project under the aegis of IREX Consortium in humanitarian and social subjects.

UDL System has organized a number of workshops in distance learning development (Kyiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia) on the basis of Internet training centers created within the IATP project administrated by IREX.

In December 2001 UDL System was involved in the conduction of a specialized training workshop for the graduates of academic exchange programs sponsored by US Government and organized by IREX, where a high level of professionalism in creating distance courses for higher education has been demonstrated.
Research of issues of methodology and pedagogy of distance teaching has been conducted and virtual community has been formed, which brings together over 250 specialists interested in introducing innovations into the learning process.

It is necessary to acknowledge the competence of UDL System staff in implementation of the projects, especially leader capacity of the manager of UDL System Mr. Ihor Katernyak.
