US Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine
I am very happy to welcome participants to the online "Corporate
Governance in Ukraine" conference organized by Ukrainian Distance
Learning, March 18-31, 2002.
This conference represents an opportunity to hold a crucial discussion
in a forum well suited for busy individuals. I do not use the term
"crucial" loosely. Improving corporate governance is as
essential to increasing both domestic and foreign investment as
investment is to creating the type of business environment that
will allow Ukrainian entrepreneurs to build and expand their businesses.
<…> (you can find the whole letter at our web-site)
By focusing on corporate governance and creating a forum for sharing
experience and insights, a forum of this type provides the opportunity
for companies to improve their own practices while simultaneously
working toward a consensus on how Ukraine as a whole can create
an environment that will attract more investment. As you participate
in this forum, you have the opportunity to learn from the experience
of others, to exchange ideas about how to improve the current situation,
and to increase awareness of the links between investment and good
corporate governance.
I wish all of the participants in this forum success in your individual
enterprises as well in your joint undertaking of improving corporate
governance in Ukraine. By providing jobs, goods and services, your
individual successes as business people add to your country's development
and economic strength. By pursuing better corporate governance,
you simultaneously add to an environment that will foster yet more
growth and a better life for all Ukrainians. Like each of you, we
at the U.S. Embassy support the development of a prosperous, democratic,
independent Ukraine. It is for this reason that improving corporate
governance ranks among our priorities for technical assistance.

Internet-Conference “Corporate Governance in Ukraine”
Without any doubt, this Internet Conference is an outstanding event
in the process of search of the Ukrainian way of forming corporate
relations and, I hope, a good start for regular meetings in the
virtual environment for constructive discussions, exchange of experience
and development of Ukrainian economy.

It is a real pleasure for me to participate in this discussion.
UDL System has done a terrific job in promulgating distance learning
in Ukraine, and this conference is a major step in the usage of
this technology. I wish all the best sucess and will follow the
progress of the conference closely.
Yurij (George) Gamota
President,
Science and Technology Management Association
Let me express my gratitude for giving the opportunity to discuss
problems, which are without exaggeration vital for the future of
Ukrainian economy. Our mutual position, our ability to produce interesting
and useful ideas define the answer to the question: “Will Ukraine
obtain the features of civilized state in relations to its own corporations
and their co-participants?” I’m especially grateful to the organizers
of the Conference (in particular, Olha Mykhaylyuk) who have managed
to make this timely and very important step.

Distance Learning Forum “Social Partnership – A Paradigm for
Success”
The Forum provides a unique opportunity for the three countries
(Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova) to get acquainted and to share experiences
in the area of social partnership, especially in terms of legal
regulations, cooperation with government agencies and business structures.
Inna Gutyum
“Adept” Association, Moldova
Enough time has passed since the Forum for us to comprehend without
emotions, in real life, that it has been an Essential Event. I believe
everyone has taken something personal from it, but for me, and now
- for our organization as well - this has been the beginning of
a new loop of development, new understanding of many phenomena in
the area of social partnership. <…> For me the [Forum] was
very timely and useful, it gave me new knowledge and new vision…”

Distance Learning courses in Business Management
I was among the first students who took UDL distance courses :)
It was quite interesting and, first of all, useful. (First – I’ve
got individual experience of distance learning, second – it’s interesting
to hear the specialists’ opinions, to participate in the discussions,
third – as a result of the discussions, to form my own opinion on
the subject).

We are glad to join your team. We are “frequenters” of this terrific
center of DL. Here we always can find interesting (and useful!)
courses.

I have to admit that the possibility of virtual communication is
very attractive and useful type of work in distance learning. I've
enrolled in courses "Business Communication" and "Firm
StartUp".

Distance form of learning allows me to study at a suitable time.
The advantage of distance learning is independence (only technical
dependence) and freedom of choosing.
Svitlana Furda,
Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine
Why do I prefer distance form of instruction? - Because of mobility
of study and additional possibility to master up-to-date communication
methods.
Tetyana Sych,
Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine
Distance Learning attracts me, first and foremost, with the possibility
to communicate with others irrespective of their location... And
certainly, it is very important that I can obtain necessary knowledge
without leaving my native city and changing my working schedule
dramatically.
